Brief History:
Verona Hardware was founded in 1929 by Stephen Merrill. He eventually sold the store to his son Victor. The original hardware store was located on the south side of Revell Ford.
In 1972, Ken and Evelyn Harper purchased the hardware store and flew the Dominion Hardware banner. Dominion Hardware became Novico, which eventually became Pro Hardware. The store was moved to the present location in 1994. Ken and Evelyn ran a very successful store for more then 30 years.
In 2004, the store was sold to Chad and Nicki Van Camp and Andrew Asselstine. Andrew had long been a fixture in the hardware store, beginning to work for Ken and Evelyn in 1990 as a student. The training that Andrew received over the course of time enabled him to become a licensed well technician and very skilled in appliances repair. Chad and Nicki Van Camp have worked in the retail sector since 1989 with the Hudson's Bay Company, first as students, then as management. Their dream to return to Verona to raise their family was realized when the Harpers agreed to sell the hardware store to the trio.
Chad, Nicki and Andrew grew the business over the next 6 years. In 2010, Andrew moved on to pursue other endeavors. Verona Hardware continues to offer the services of a certified well technician. As well selling, installing and servicing a full line of major appliances, Verona Hardware is proud to sell CIL paints, and offer window and screen repair, key cutting services and has access to building materials such as lumber, windows and doors. Verona Hardware has grown a reputation as the place to buy local maple syrup, pumpkins, corn and apples.
